Corix’s commitment to a safe workplace

Corix is committed to conducting its business in a safe and environmentally responsible manner by recognizing the rights of workers, providing a safe and healthy working environment, and promoting positive attitudes toward health, safety and the environment in the workplace.

In order to meet this commitment, the company and its employees will work in a spirit of consultation and cooperation in order to:

  • Comply with all applicable laws, company policies and industry codes of practice and require the same of our contractors.
  • Identify and manage risks to prevent or reduce possible adverse consequences from our operations.
  • Establish and maintain standards of maintenance of facilities and equipment, ensuring that physical and health hazards are guarded against or eliminated, and workers are properly trained in safe work procedures.
  • Train employees to be aware of and meet their responsibilities for protection of health, safety and the environment.
  • Integrate health, safety and environmental protection measures into all elements of our business.
  • Communicate openly with stakeholders about our activities and their impact on health, safety and the environment, and respond promptly to their concerns.
  • Work with industry associations, government and other stakeholders to establish standards for health, safety and the environment appropriate to our business.
  • Use resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Regularly monitor our health, safety and environmental performance and strive for continuous improvement.

Managers and supervisors are responsible for ensuring that workers are properly instructed to do their work safely, for enforcing safe work procedures and regulations, and for correcting all unsafe activities.

The Safety and Health Committee is responsible for monitoring workplace procedures, for receiving suggestions and complaints, investigating accidents and making recommendations for improvement. All Corix Employees are required to work safely, to know and follow all rules and safe work procedures and to repair or report any unsafe conditions or activities.

It is also expected and required that all Corix Employees correct or report unsafe conditions, equipment, activities and work practices to their manager or supervisor and to work cooperatively towards the prevention of accidents.
