Chatham-Kent Energy And Corix Utilities Open New Measurement Technology Centre

Chatham-Kent — Chatham-Kent - Chatham-Kent Energy (CKE) and Corix Utilities (Corix) are today officially opening the new Corix Measurement Technology Center in Chatham-Kent, Ontario. The Measurement Technology Centre comes about as a result of partnering between CKE, Corix and Terasen Gas. Today’s event included the official presentation of the meter shop accreditation certificate by Alan E. Johnston, the President of Measurement Canada.

“This shows some of the positive results we are seeing from our new partnership with Corix,” said Ray Payne, President and CEO of Chatham-Kent Energy. “The Corix Measurement Technology Centre will lead to additional growth for us, including in the area of smart meters, where we are leading the Province of Ontario in the deployment of a fully compliant smart meter solution.”

The new Measurement Technology Centre takes advantage of Corix’s significant experience and expertise in the area of measurement and metering. This experience includes over 3 million gas, water and electric AMR installations and meter changes across North America for a diverse range of customers that includes investor-owned utilities, municipalities and cooperatives. Corix has also tested and calibrated over 900,000 meters in 125 communities across the U.S. and Canada and has read over 200 million meters since 1995. In Ontario, Corix already is a leading provider of water meter deployment and meter reading services through the Canadian Water Services division of Ontario Water Products.

“The Measurement Technology Centre was one of several specific initiatives we talked about with our partner and we are excited to see it up and running,” said John Shaw, Corix’s Director of Special Projects. “We believe that the expertise and relationships of Corix in measurement and metering technology, combined with Chatham-Kent Energy’s leadership in smart meter deployment will bring further measurement and meter opportunities in Ontario. The Corix Measurement Technology Center will be able to deal with a wide variety of metering technologies, so we can support different vendors and municipal electric distribution companies across Ontario in achieving their smart meter deployment plans.”
