Will provide water and wastewater related utility operations and maintenance services

Chatham-Kent — Chatham-Kent Water Services Ltd. – (a subsidiary of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent) and Corix Utilities (a member of the Corix Group of Companies) have entered into a formal partnership to pursue water and wastewater related utility operations and maintenance opportunities in southwestern Ontario. This new joint entity will be called the Chatham-Kent Corix Water Services Limited.

“This new partnership positions us to play a leadership role in addressing a serious municipal infrastructure gap that exists in other communities in Ontario with respect to water and wastewater services,” said Mayor Randy Hope, The Municipality of Chatham-Kent. “Corix’s industry leading experience in the water, wastewater and sustainable energy fields, combined with our location and knowledge of the market in southwestern Ontario, is expected to result in new and potentially significant employment and financial impacts that will benefit the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.”

“As a leading Canadian community utility infrastructure provider, Corix is enthusiastic about the partnership’s ability to deliver water and wastewater infrastructure solutions for communities in southwestern Ontario,” said Ken Morrison, Director, Ontario Operations, for Corix Utilities. “It is also consistent with our growing presence in the province, which includes our recent investment in Chatham-Kent Energy, a partnership with Ontario Water Products and our growing sustainable energy businesses.”

The Corix Group of Companies – based in Vancouver, B.C. – specializes in providing infrastructure solutions in the water, wastewater and energy sectors. It has over 1000 employees in 40 locations across North America. Corix is a private company whose primary owners are the BC Investment Management Corporation and CAI Capital Management Inc., two large and stable members of the Canadian investment community that represent leading Canadian pension funds and financial institutions.
