District energy is a system that provides energy in the form of hot water for space and water heating to buildings in a surrounding district.
Corix has created an innovative approach to creating and distributing energy throughout a district. The Lower Lonsdale Development in North Vancouver uses a system of mini-plants to provide energy. The mini-plants use high efficiency gas boilers that capture up to 95% of the heat energy derived from burning natural gas to heat water. This system keeps costs competitive, mitigates the need for large electrical or boiler rooms in every building, and reduces the management of the systems. This project received funding from the Federal Green Municipal Investment Fund, which supports systems with significant environmental benefits.
Corix can make the initial capital investment, own the system, and be responsible for its operation and maintenance. We can also provide metering, billing and customer care services.
Hybrid Energy Systems
Corix is capable of creating sustainable energy systems that combine different sources of energy. For example, a geothermal system could supply a district with heat, air conditioning and hot water, or a biomass system could be tied to a wastewater program. We’re open to exploring the possibilities. |
