Corix Burnaby Mountain DE Limited Partnership (Corix) recently filed an application to the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) seeking approval of the revenue requirement and rates for Burnaby Mountain District Energy Utility (BMDEU) for the period from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027, with Basic Charge rates effective January 1, 2026, and January 1, 2027 (Application).
Based on the proposals in the Application, the indicative increases to the total annual bill for an 800 sq. ft. residential condo are $82 (4.77%) in 2026, and $81 (4.46%) in 2027 (if it were a direct customer of BMDEU). Section 13 on pages 130 to 132 of the Application provides additional bill impact details.
On December 12, 2025, the BCUC issued Order G-297-25, which established a regulatory timetable for the review of the Application and approved a Basic Charge of $1.7178 per square metre per month effective January 1, 2026 on an interim and refundable or recoverable basis.
Appendix B of Order G-297-25 also provided a Public Notice with information about how parties can get involved in the BCUC’s regulatory process for the review of the Application.
