Notice of Filing – Rate Rider for UniverCity

Notices

Corix Burnaby Mountain DE Limited Partnership (Corix) recently submitted a compliance filing to the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) in accordance with BCUC Orders G-348-24 and G-321-24. In this compliance filing, Corix requested acceptance of permanent rates for customers of the Burnaby Mountain District Energy Utility (BMDEU) and approval of a 12-month rate rider for the UniverCity customer group, among other matters.

On January 28, 2025, the BCUC issued Order G-18-25 establishing permanent rates for BMDEU effective March 1, 2024 and January 1, 2025, following Corix’s compliance with G-348-24 and G-321-24.

Order G-18-25 also started a BCUC review of Corix’s request for approval of the 12-month rate rider for the UniverCity customer group. This rate rider is proposed to recover a deficit balance of $262,930 due to the difference between Corix’s interim and final allowed cost of capital approved by the BCUC for 2024. Corix proposes a UniverCity rate rider of $0.1386 per square metre per month to recover the deficit balance over a 12-month period lasting from April 1, 2025 until March 31, 2026.
