Boil Water Advisory Downgraded to Water Quality Advisory

May 31, 2023

Corix Utilities would like to notify all residents that as of May 31, the previous Boil Water Advisory has been downgraded to a Water Quality Advisory. Please share this information with others in your community.

Water Quality Advisories are issued when moderate variations in water quality occur—such as aesthetic changes in water clarity, colour, and taste—but the actual risk to human health remains low. Individuals at greater risk of gastrointestinal illness, however; should follow the Precautions below.

This Advisory will be rescinded, and residents notified, once water quality returns to normal. Please check back here for updates.

Precautions for At-Risk Individuals

While a Water Quality Advisory represents low risk for most people, the following individuals should take precautions.

    • Individuals with weakened immune systems or chronic illnesses
    • Infants and individuals under 12, and those over 65 years of age

Tap water used for the following purposes should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one (1) minute, then cooled as needed before use.

    • Drinking and ice cubes
    • Liquids or food (e.g. tea or soup) that will not be boiled for at least one (1) minute
    • Washing fruits and vegetables being eaten raw
    • Brushing teeth or cleaning dental and medical appliances
    • Preparing baby food and infant formula
    • Bathing infants

Water used for bathing shouldn’t be swallowed. Tap water may be used for dishes washed by machine, but add bleach if washing dishes by hand. Water used for other household purposes does not need to be boiled.
