Annual Watermain and Hydrant Flushing

Jan 20, 2023

Corix Utilities operators will be flushing fire hydrants and watermains in the Oakanagan Landing community from January 25 to 26 between the hours of 9 AM and 3 PM. As such, you may notice Corix Utilities crews working at fire hydrants and see water running down the street. Please use caution if transiting through these areas.

You may experience intermittent drops in water pressure and slight discolouration during this work. Our operators will try to minimize this as much as possible. Discolouration can occur from harmless silt and air in the mains, but it doesn’t affect the safety of your water. If you experience water discolouration, clear the pipes in your home by running all water faucets for a few minutes.

Flushing is an important part of our programmed maintenance of your water system and is typically done once a year. Crews are also checking the operation of fire hydrants.

Homeowner Tip: This may also be a good time for some preventative maintenance at home. Your water heater should be drained and flushed on a regular basis to keep it working properly. Please refer to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Thank you for your patience as we work to maintain your water system.
