Corix Multi-Utility Services’ Neighbourhood District Energy System at the University of British Columbia (UBC NDES) recently filed an application seeking approval from the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) to flow-through energy costs to customers in a timely manner. The Notice of Application and the Application have been posted to the Regulatory Affairs webpage of this website.
On August 15, 2023, the BCUC issued Order G-217-23, which approved interim rates effective September 1, 2023. The BCUC ordered that “the Variable Energy Charge of $0.0516 per kWh including the establishment of the associated ECRA to capture energy related variances, and the Variable Charge of $0.0000 per kWh, are approved on an interim and refundable or recoverable basis, effective September 1, 2023.”
BCUC Order G-217-23 also established a written hearing process in accordance with the regulatory timetable included with the Order. Parties who wish to participate in the proceeding may submit a letter of comment to the BCUC by October 12, 2023.
