Heritage Pointe Flushing and Waterline Maintenance

Sep 01, 2021

Normally in summer or fall, we flush your system’s watermains to conduct system checks and keep them operating in optimal condition. This preventive maintenance is done using fire hydrants, and you may see our crews in your area, and water running down the streets. If you see Corix crews flushing hydrants, please slow down, and use extra caution while passing the work area.

As a result of the flushing process, residents in the area may experience temporary discoloration of their water. This is from harmless silt and air, and doesn’t affect water safety. It will clear on its own or by running your taps for several minutes.

This may also be a good time to flush your home’s water heater. To keep it working efficiently, it should be drained and flushed on a regular basis, according to the manufacturers’ recommendations.

Why We Flush Water Systems

Your water distribution system is a complex network of pipes and storage reservoirs where sediments and deposits naturally accumulate over time. Water may also stagnate in lesser used parts of the system. If not removed “flushed”, these elements may cause water quality to deteriorate.

If you have questions about system flushing or the periodic maintenance we do, please contact Corix Customer Care.
