Localized Water Service Disruption and Boil Water Notice - Mar 26

Mar 19, 2024

UPDATE - Tuesday, Apr 02, 15:00 PM

The Precautionary Boil Water Notice has been rescinded. Testing has determined that water is safe to drink and use as normal. Thank you for your patience.

UPDATE - Thursday, Mar 28, 11:00 AM

Please note, the Boil Water Notice for the neighbourhoods detailed below remains in effect. Unfortunately, we have not received water quality laboratory test results, and cannot lift the Notice until that time. We thank you for your patience while this precautionary measure is in place.

A section of watermain will be altered in the Village Centre area of Sun Rivers. To safely accomplish this work, sections of the Sun Rivers potable water system will be without drinking water on Tuesday, March 26, from 8 AM to 4 PM. Please collect water for drinking, cooking, and bathing prior to this time.

Affected Neighbourhoods are:

  • The Pointe
  • Talasa - Paloma
  • River Gate Drive

After this disruption, you may experience trapped air or discoloured water. Should this occur, try flushing your cold-water lines for 2-3 minutes. If conditions persist, please contact us.

Localized Boil Water Notice

Regrettably, the above areas will be under a Precautionary Boil Water Notice due to unavoidable localized depressurization of the water system. This is done when contaminants could enter the water system, but boiling will effectively remove them.

We’ll work with the First Nations Health Authority to expedite testing and remove the Notice as quickly as possible. Updates will be posted on this website.

Precautions During a Boil Water Notice

During a Boil Water Notice, tap water used for the following purposes should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one (1) minute prior to use.

  • Drinking and ice cubes
  • Liquids or food (e.g. tea or soup) that will not be boiled for at least one (1) minute
  • Washing fruits and vegetables being eaten raw
  • Brushing teeth or cleaning dental and medical appliances
  • Preparing baby food and infant formula
  • Bathing infants

Adults, adolescents, and older children may shower, bathe, or wash using tap water, but should avoid swallowing water. It’s recommended to sponge bathe infants if using tap water. Tap water may be used for dishes washed by machine but add bleach to water used for dishes washed by hand. Water used for other household purposes does not need to be boiled.

This Notice will be rescinded once the water has been demonstrated safe to drink. Please check this News & Notices page for updates. Should you have questions, please contact Corix Customer Care.
